Spin Sister

This is so cool for its lighting source.  Of course, Bella has never put a record on a turntable (though I still play records on mine), so she doesn't know the proper way to hold one.  She also refuses to wear sunglasses, so I guess she doesn't understand how they stay on either.  Still- a great effort!  Neat colors...

Scanned Sketches

Bella has a tendency to doodle in class.  I'm sure many of you find this news shocking!  She often takes these sketches and scans them into the computer, and then embellishes them.  The ones directly below were done on the back of a test.  The teacher commented at the top after grading it.  The cheerleaders were a part of a poster she made for Literacy class, though I can't recall the theme at the moment.

Emily the Strange, Eli, and OTP

The middle drawing gives you a sense of Bella's sketching style before she cleans up the line work and adds color.

Above, Low & Seiko

Here are three of Bella's latest, experimenting with different poses, and highlighting and shading.

Elias and Nageki

I do a terrible job of posting everything Bella draws, mainly because she dominates the computer all the time! I hate to wrench her away... We're way overdo for two computers.

Battle Royale: Fightin' Girls

I love when Bella experiments with different graphic styles. These pictures are inspired by her reading of the novel, "Battle Royale".

Rin & Flora

Here are a couple of Bella's latest drawings. One is of an artistic female character without arms. I'm not sure who Flora Reinhart is...

Luka

I can't keep up with all the characters that Bella draws... some come from games that she has played with Papa, some from a youtube link, or some from a manga site. This one strangely resembles the artist that actually drew this piece of art. Bella often draws with her headphones on, as she explores what spotify has to offer.

Lain

I love the way Bella did the eyes on this character. She is really improving with her shading and anatomy all the time.

Bella's Brand of Brutality

I don't know what to think about the theme of torture in Bella's art, but violence is so often portrayed in films and manga comics to an extent that we are desensitized to it... until our 12-year old daughter experiments with such imagery in her art. She considers these nothing more than doodling and doesn't know why I asked her about them.

Pin Up Art?!

I'm not sure which weirds me out more, my daughter doing art featuring girls holding bloody power tools (next post- I promise), or her pin-up art. At least these demonstrate her improvement at using the shading tools she has available to her, along with a growing understanding of anatomy.

Hey there, Little Red Riding Hood!

At some point, my daughter became obsessed with Little Red Riding Hood. Maybe she identifies with her in the way that she is still young and innocent but is aware that evil exists in the world because she is constantly warned. Here are a couple examples of her recent RRH art, though it dates back a couple months.
